Alumna Helps Challenged Children Discover the Ocean

Andrea Robertson '02 worked with Day of Discovery, Scuba for Kids with Special Needs to give disabled children the chance to experience the ocean firsthand at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Great Tidal Pool on June 12, 2009. The annual event is open to children of any disability from ages 8 to 14. Wearing specially adapted wetsuits, masks, flippers, and oxygen tanks, the youngsters experienced the weightlessness of scuba diving with activities customized to each child's comfort level. Each child left with an Underwater Explorer certificate and a once-in-a-lifetime story to tell. To find out more, call 408.268.8004.
