Photography Students Win Weston Awards

Seniors Ryan Tuttle and Ariana Patterson were awarded photography scholarships by the Gina and Kim Weston Scholarship Fund. A reception was held on May 22, 2009 at the Sunset Center's Marjorie Evans Gallery in Carmel.

Competing against 77 submissions, Ryan won second place and a $500 award. She will be continuing studying photography at UC Santa Cruz and plans to pursue a photography career. Ariana won an honorable mention and $200, and will continue taking photography courses at UCLA.

The Weston scholarship was established to support high school and college students studying art photography in Monterey County. Students submit images created with conventional analog processes as well as traditional alternative processes such as platinum printing.
