Santa Catalina Upper School

The educational program of Santa Catalina's Upper School is one that fosters excellence in academics, the visual and performing arts, and athletics. As an independent, Catholic school, it is our mission to teach the importance of becoming leaders in our communities by serving others.

The School stands out as one characterized by dedication, enthusiasm, warmth, and concern for others as exhibited by teachers, administrators, and students. And there is a strong alliance between parents, teachers, and students. All involved with Santa Catalina are committed and genuinely care about the students and the school.

The curriculum is college preparatory, providing students with opportunities to participate in the nationally recognized Advanced Placement program of the College Board. Graduation requirements include four years of English, three years of mathematics, three years of a foreign language, three years of history, and three years of laboratory science. Courses in religious studies, the arts, and physical education are required of each student each year. Elective and/or advanced placement courses are also offered in most subject areas such as history, English, science, math, languages, performing and studio art, music, and computer science.

But Santa Catalina students reach beyond the school's requirements in their pursuit of learning. They develop a desire for excellence that inspires them in all facets of life. And whether it be in the classroom, on the playing field, or in community service projects, students are challenged to see their responsibility to make the world better. Our graduates face the future with confidence, grace, courage, and dignity, for a Santa Catalina education prepares our students not just for college, but for life.

"As Catalinans, we stand out... you can pick us out of a crowd in ten seconds flat. You simply look for a woman who stands with strength and self-assurance, for the greatest gift Catalina has given us is ourselves."
