Overview

The middle school years are the culmination of a process that begins for some of our students as early as Pre-Kindergarten. Others may have joined us as recently as the eighth grade. In either case, upon graduation our students enter the next stage of their academic career with what we believe to be the important elements for success firmly in place; a desire for continued intellectual growth and a moral and spiritual awareness that will guide them during their life journey.

Our Mission Statement reflects that "the beginning is everything." The middle school years bridge "the beginning" with the rest of a student's life. It is, with this in mind, that we have accepted the awesome responsibility to meet the needs of each one of our students as they cross that bridge. It is a gift that each one of us as teachers has been given and that each one of us cherishes. We welcome you to share in the Santa Catalina middle school experience.

Daily Schedule
All students in the middle school participate in very full days which begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Three days a week, all students meet for assembly and begin the morning with prayer, reflection, a flag salute, and announcements before attending their first class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students meet with their advisee group before classes start.Classes begin at 8:15 and are 45 minutes in length. In one week, a middle school student experiences classes in English, history, math, Algebra, science, foreign language (Spanish or Latin), art, drama, computer science, music, religion/interfaith, and physical education. Students also have three study halls each week in which to do homework, to meet with teachers, or to use the library for research.
