Parent Involvement

We believe that frequent, open, and honest communication with parents is in the best interests of our students. At all grade levels, teachers schedule two conferences every year to discuss each child’s progress.

The Schedule
Grades K-3 have a trimester schedule. Kindergarten teachers write three skills checklists, with accompanying narrative reports, to document the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth each student makes during the course of the school year. Students in Grades 1-3 receive report cards and narrative reports three times a year.

Grades 4-5 have a semester schedule; students receive their report cards and narrative reports twice a year.

Getting Involved
We encourage parents to become as involved as possible in their children’s education and daily life at school. Parents are welcome to attend the weekly PreK-5 Assembly. Approximately every other Wednesday notes the arrival of a new week's Cougar Connection, our Lower School newsletter. The Cougar Connection is available both online and in a hard-copy format.

There also are many ways that parents can volunteer to assist classroom teachers, such as becoming room parents, chaperoning field trips, and helping with special events.
