Our Traditions
Each Kindergarten class puts its own personality into traditional annual events in the class calendar. Students and parents alike enjoy these memorable occasions:
- parading through campus costumed for Halloween, with Trick-or-Treat stops at school offices
- retelling the story of the Nativity in our Christmas play
- enjoying our formal “Daddy Dinner” sitting proudly next to Dad—or in his lap!
- serving mothers tea and cookies at our “Mommy Tea,” while they proudly wear the spring hats their children made in class
- receiving a diploma at Kindergarten Graduation.
In addition, Kindergarten students share these traditional events with students in Grades 1-5:
- relaxing on the lawn at our back-to-school family picnic on Labor Day
hearing great tales at Pajama Story Night in the library
- escorting Grandma and Grandpa around the campus on Grandparents’ Day, a biennial event
- exhibiting their best work in the Lower School Art Exhibition.
Students in Grades 1-5 participate in additional Lower School traditions:
- Halloween Pumpkin Olympics on the athletic field
- Christmas Concert in the Performing Arts Center
- Ice-Cream Social following Spring Concert in the Performing Arts Center
- Grade 8 Graduation.
