Parent InvolvementWe believe that frequent, open, and honest communication with parents is in the best interests of our students. Our teachers schedule two conferences throughout the year to discuss each child's progress. In addition, the teachers write three comprehensive developmental profiles, with accompanying narrative reports, to document the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth each student makes during the course of the school year. We encourage parents to become as involved as possible in their children's daily life at school. Parents are always welcome to observe or participate in all Pre-Kindergarten activities. Our observation booth allows parents to watch their children learn and interact with teachers and classmates. Parents also are welcome to attend the weekly Assembly of students and teachers in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. In addition, there are many ways that parents can volunteer to assist the classroom teachers, such as becoming room parents, chaperoning field trips, and helping with special events. Approximately every other Wednesday notes the arrival of a new week's Cougar Connection, our Lower School newsletter. The Cougar Connection is available both online and in a hard-copy format. In addition, the Pre-Kindergarten teachers send home a weekly classroom newsletter. Parents may borrow books on a variety of parenting and educational issues from the library located in the Kindergarten classroom next door. |
