Instruction in Physical EducationThe Santa Catalina Physical Education and Athletic department go hand in hand with the school's spirit of academic challenge and is an integral part of the school day. Students participate regularly in athletics and value the role of physical activity in a healthy lifestyle. The program is characterized by the highest levels of professional growth and development and provides a setting in which student-athletes can develop themselves both as players and as individuals. Our students demonstrate daily that a pursuit of excellence on the playing field is fully compatible with a pursuit of excellence in the classroom, and that a combination of the two endeavors makes for a complete educational experience. The program at Santa Catalina works to maximize opportunities for participation for all students, and aspires to achieve and maintain high levels of athletic performance within a moral and ethical framework. Most importantly, we strive to make each student's athletic experience a positive, healthy and enjoyable part of her school years. Interscholastic sports are the centerpiece of the athletic program. It is here that our student-athletes learn values and principles of goal setting, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Interscholastic team practices run every weekday for approximately two hours. Days of competition may require additional travel time and may include weekends. Curriculum Open All Close All
