Santa Catalina's St. Francis Garden was filled with a menagerie of pets for the annual Blessing of the Animals on October 4.
On a beautiful sunny day marking the Feast of St. Francis, first- and second-graders and their families gathered to honor the life and teachings of the patron saint of animals. After an opening program of prayer, song, and skits, the pets lined up to receive a sprinkling of holy water from Sister Claire and Mr. Riley.
At least 15 dogs, a cat, two bunnies, a goldfish, two bearded dragons, and a class turtle received blessings. Photos of pets that couldn't make it were also blessed.
