Open House Thank You
We offer sincere thanks to all of our Catalina families. We had a great turnout for our Open House on Wednesday, November 11, and many of the people in attendance were here because of you. Your referrals and help getting the word out are much appreciated. Please mark your calendars for our next Open House on Monday, January 18.
By popular demand, the Parents Association would like to revive a long-standing Santa Catalina tradition and popular excursion for all Lower, Middle and Upper School parents and their friends—the San Francisco Bus Trip.
The 34th Annual Benefit Celebration is on Saturday, March 19, 2016. It’s time to start planning for our school’s largest fundraising event of the year that benefits all Santa Catalina students.
Grade 8 students are selling assorted See's Candies this week to support their spring 2016 trip to Washington, D.C. Check your holiday gift list and shop to support a good cause. Prices range from $6 to $36 and you get to choose from chocolates, peppermints, lollipops, and more. Orders will be delivered to you by Wednesday, December 16—SO much easier than standing in line at the See's shop in Del Monte Center on Christmas Eve!
Winter brings with it the need for hats, gloves, and scarves! During the winter months, please have your children bundle up so they can enjoy the outdoors. Students may come to school with these items and wear them before school and during break, lunch, and after school.
Did you know that Santa Catalina has social media accounts for BOTH the Upper AND Lower and Middle Schools? Follow the Lower and Middle School for pictures, updates, videos, and more! The original Catalina social media accounts will now cover only grades 9 through 12.

Grade 5 was busy in the Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School Boiler Lab not only researching and collaborating but sharing glue guns, saws, and drills!
Grade 3 students experienced a real-life lesson in global citizenship over Halloween when they raised $400 by “Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF,” the United Nations Children’s Fund. The students learned about the mission of the organization, which works to combat hunger, disease, malnutrition, and unsafe water in many developing countries. Read more...
On Tuesday, November 3, Grade 2 released six painted lady butterflies, which the students had been caring for since the larval stage. The butterfly release was the culmination of a FOSS (Full Option Science Systems) science project.
