    Spring Concert

    This year's Spring Concert — A Tribute to Old Time Rock and Roll — will take place on Thursday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Grades 1 through 5 should be at the PAC at 6:45 p.m. Grades 6 through 8 should be at the Mary Johnson Recital Hall at 6:30 p.m. Stephen Spaulding of Isomer Productions will video the event.     Spring Art Salon

    Artwork by the students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 is now on display in the Assembly Room and Hallway Gallery.

    We invite you to gather, socialize, and enjoy the artwork an hour before and a half-hour after the Spring Concert on Thursday, May 22.

    Sports Recognition and Pep Rally

    Join us for a Sports Recognition Ceremony and Pep Rally on Friday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the gym. We will honor students who participated in golf, track, and tennis. Students should wear their Compass colors. We will be on an activity schedule.

    Middle School Dance

    Grade 8 is sponsoring a Middle School dance on Friday, May 30 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. in the Assembly Room. Middle School faculty members will serve as chaperones, and we hope all Middle School students will attend. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Parents, we ask that students arrive no later than 7:30 p.m. and that you promptly pick them up at 9:30 p.m.

    All three Middle School robotics teams placed in the 2014 MATE Monterey Bay Regional Underwater Robotics Competition.

    Mathletes Garner Honors

    This year, 12 Lower and Middle School students participated in the Mathletics Competition. Five took home individual honors, and the Grade 6 team placed third overall.

    Summer Reading Program: Grades 1-3

    Santa Catalina will again offer a summer reading program for students entering Grades 1–3 who could benefit from multisensory practice of literacy skills. This year's program has a pirate theme and will end with a treasure hunt. Brochures are available in the Lower and Middle School office. Application deadline is Friday, May 23.

    All Lower and Middle School students may wear free dress on Friday, May 16. Please wear your Carnival apparel and/or anything rock-n-roll-themed or 1950s-inspired. Think poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and leather jackets!

    We are in search of bakers and wanna-be chefs to donate items to the Grade 3 Cake Walk. If you like to bake, we hope you'll crack some eggs and whip up some sweet treats!

    Each grade level will host its own booth, including the Milk Bottle Ring Toss, "Jailhouse Rock" Dunk Tank, Tin Can Alley, and more. We'll also have face painting, a photo booth, Euro Bungee, DJ Sandler, etc.

    Cash and credit cards will be accepted for wristbands, merchandise, Jitterbug Jive-in menu items, and other purchases. All other booths—including the Sweet Treats Candy Shack, Zippy’s Freeze, Rip-Roarin' Refreshments, and the photo pins/magnets—will be CASH ONLY.
