Dedicated and
enthusiastic, our instructors inspire a lifelong love of learning. With innovative and
exciting classes, you will be motivated to uncover hidden talents and achieve
personal goals.
Our teachers come from near and far.
Some of them work at our school during the year, and others make the trek to
the Central Coast every year to join the Summer at Santa Catalina family. They
do have the same things in common: a passion for what they do, expertise in
their field, and the desire to steward young women.
Our common goals are
to challenge the campers, teach them new skills, and encourage them to be able
problem solvers—all while having fantastic time.
Our counselors are exuberant,
college-age women, many of whom are past campers and Upper School alumnae.
Always mindful that life lessons happen in both big and small moments, they
live in the dorms, oversee the daily schedule, and assist with evening and
weekend activities. Providing support, insight, and encouragement, our
counselors are both friends and big sisters. They are the backbone of our
program and are selected with the well-being of every camper in
mind. And it doesn’t hurt that they play guitar or make a mean friendship
bracelet!
Year–round Staff

Julie Yurkovich Forrest '78, camp director, has been involved with Summer at Santa Catalina for 10 years—five years as the head tennis instructor and five years as the camp director.
Julie (pictured, right) believes that camp is a ton of fun and a great way to try out things you don't have time to do during the school year. She often says: "There is not a greater place to spend your summer than Summer at Santa Catalina, especially if you are looking for fun, excitement, growth, and challenge. Being a Summer at Santa Catalina camper is something you never forget. When you leave our program, we hope you go home and teach your friends about some of the great things you have learned and shared."
Julie spends a lot of time off-season planning memorable evening activities, and one of her favorite things is nights when there are Check/Stripe throw-downs. “I straddle the line and make sure to wear both green and red,” she says laughingly. “I am loyal to both teams. I am nonpartisan and cheer for everyone.”
Take the time to fill out the inquiry form, or give her a call. Julie loves to talk camp—all the time!
Cynthia Bennett, camp administrative assistant, is our favorite island girl. She comes to us from Hawaii via Germany and Seaside, California. She has more flip-flops than anyone at camp, and she always has one, if not two, of our school dogs—Perkin and Sophie—in tow as she goes about her business.
Cynthia (pictured, left) is the soul of the preseason preparation. She reads through and processes all of the registration forms and manages our enormous database.
If you have questions about registration and classes, Cynthia is your go-to girl!
