AQUATICS

Aquatic Games
Have you ever stood on a surfboard (in water!), played underwater hockey, or used snorkeling gear? Here is the opportunity! Strong swimmers have the chance to learn the fundamentals of snorkeling and surfing. Individualized instruction and group games provide a fun and spirited competition in an enriching environment. Girls must be able to swim one width of the pool with ease.

Beginning/Intermediate Swim Lessons
This class is for students who would like to be stronger swimmers. The focus is to improve basic swimming skills, including strokes and breathing. Students learn the basics of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke, and open turns. This class helps girls who would like to gain confidence and practice in the pool.

Beginning Springboard Diving
Open to beginning divers, this diving class is both invigorating and challenging. Students use our three one-meter diving boards to learn and practice a variety of dives. Individual goals are determined based on each diver’s interest and ability.

Intermediate Springboard Diving
Here is an opportunity to build on current diving skills and master more difficult dives! This class is for students that have already participated in diving classes, either at our camp or elsewhere. A variety of dives will be learned based on each student’s skill level and tailored to each
girl’s ability.

Inner-tube Water Polo
You’ve seen them splashing and darting around the pool - water polo players! Students, in inner-tubes, can now take part in an exciting and enjoyable introduction to the competitive sport of water polo. Students learn the rules and strategies of the game and participate in daily conditioning and short matches. Players who would like to take this class must be able to swim the width of the pool with ease.

DANCE


Ballet

Ever dream of dancing to beautiful music wearing elegant costumes? Ballet class is the place to start. The class is open to all–for the girl who has taken years of ballet or is just starting out. Experienced dancers teach techniques in ballet barre, center combinations, and across-the-floor patterns. Ballet students perform on Closing Day.

EQUESTRIAN CLASSES


Riding/Horsemanship

Students are instructed in all phases of horsemanship including practical stable management and grooming, as well as riding, vaulting, and jumping. The instructors strive to teach each girl to ride with safety, skill, and control. This program meets for 2 hours each day, either morning or afternoon, Monday through Friday. All riders participate in a Horse Show for family and friends.

SPORTS

Basketball Clinic (2-Week Program Only)
This in-depth clinic meets for 3 hours each afternoon, Monday through Friday. It is a wonderful opportunity for girls interested in learning the skills necessary for competitive middle school and high school basketball programs. A warm-up and conditioning period, basic skills and drills, and game strategy will be a part of each practice.

Golf
What a great opportunity to learn from a golf professional! Lessons are for all levels of golfers. Topics covered are long game, short game, course management, rules, and golf etiquette in this one-hour class. Get in the swing!

Soccer Clinic (3-Week Program Only)
This rigorous clinic meets for 3 hours each afternoon, Monday through Friday. It is for girls who are interested in improving individual and team skills in order to compete at the club, middle school, and high school level. In addition to basic conditioning, the clinic focuses on core skills, footwork, and team playing and strategy. This is a great opportunity for dedicated soccer players to continue playing soccer daily while at camp.

Volleyball Clinic (3-Week Program Only) NEW!
Side out! Calling all volleyball players! This new clinic addresses players of all levels and teaches basic skills, as well as improving existing ones. Our experienced coaches and assistants help players improve their on-court performance with instruction, match play, drills, strategies, games, and have fun doing it all! So get ready to bump, set, and spike!

TENNIS

Please read the following descriptions carefully to determine the appropriate placement of your camper in the tennis program.

All tennis classes begin with a combination of footwork drills, running, and core training, presented in a fun and productive way. The initial part of each class is spent warming-up and building skills to improve agility, speed, and endurance.

Stroke Builder
For students new to the sport or for those who have had some tennis classes or tennis camp exposure, but are still learning how to hit the ball, judge the bounce of the ball or need to be closer to the net than the baseline in order to get the ball over the net. This player hasn’t had the opportunity to have lessons or be in tennis classes during the year and may still have a hard time making contact with the ball.

Rising Stars
For students who can rally and adjust to different heights, speeds and placements of balls but have trouble being consistent and have weakness in some of the strokes, such as serves, forehands or backhands. These players should have been involved in tennis practice or tennis classes somewhat regularly during the year or in the past.

Competition Class

For students who play tennis matches regularly or have competed in the past. Must be able to rally and serve consistently and are able to adjust to different types of balls. These players should be motivated to practice hard and are willing to learn new things to add to their game.

THEATRE ARTS

Musical Theatre Workshop (5-Week Program Only)
“Be our guest” this summer in the production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr! The Musical Theatre Workshop is open to all girls who attend the five-week session. Every weekday morning, 9 a.m. to noon, students rehearse on stage in the school’s Performing Arts Center. Roger Thompson, the director of performing arts at Santa Catalina, is joined by a professional choreographer to stage this favorite musical. Together they provide instruction on the techniques of stage presence, acting, singing, and dancing. Every girl who chooses this workshop will take part in a full-scale production of the musical presented for family and friends on Closing Day.

VOICE

Voice Class
Girls will learn breathing techniques, vocal warm-ups, and exercises as they experience voice lessons in a group setting. Campers should come ready to sing and to improve their vocal and listening skills. This class will give them a foundation on which they can build any singing style.
