Application Process

Thank you for your interest in Santa Catalina's Upper School. We welcome this opportunity to get to know you better.

There are three ways to apply:

  1. Apply online.
  2. Download and fill out the forms on this page.
  3. Email or call 831.655.9356 to request an admission packet be sent to you by mail.

All application materials are due by February 1.

Standardized Testing

Applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). The PSAT is accepted for students applying for Grade 11.

Nonnative English speakers are required to take the TOEFL.

Visit Day

All applicants and their parents will be invited to Santa Catalina for parent/student interviews, class visits, all-school assembly, and a campus tour. The Admission Office is open Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment, please call 831.655.9356.

Application Forms

Application Checklist
The Application Checklist guides you through the application process.

Applicant Information Form
The Applicant Information Form should be completed and returned with the application fee.

Applicant Questionnaire
The Applicant Questionnaire should be completed and writing samples attached.

Parent Questionnaire
The Parent Questionnaire should be completed by parents or guardians.

Transcript Release
The Transcript Release should be given to your Head of School or Counselor, who will then send us your transcript for the last two years, including grades for the first semester of the current year.

School Recommendation
The School Recommendation should be completed by your Head of School or Counselor and returned directly to the Upper School Admission Office.

English Recommendation
The English Recommendation should be completed by your current English teacher and returned directly to the Upper School Admission Office.

Mathematics Recommendation
The Mathematics Recommendation should be completed by your current mathematics teacher and returned directly to the Upper School Admission Office.

Personal Recommendation (optional)
The Personal Recommendation should be completed by an adult who knows you in a nonacademic setting. This may include a coach, clergy member, or family friend.
