Traditions

Traditions are an important part of life at Catalina, and they are handed down from generation to generation. Our traditions foster friendship among the girls, unify our community, and link current students with our alumnae. The connections created by our traditions are a central part of the Catalina experience and are talked about for years after graduation.

Big Sister-Little Sister

Seniors act as big sisters to incoming freshmen and new students to help them adjust to life at school. Big sisters introduce the younger girls to the life and traditions at Santa Catalina, and during the year a close relationship grows between the girls.

Senior Rafting Trip

White river rafting is an annual fall trip for seniors to bond and prepare for their final year at Santa Catalina.

Parents' Weekend

Parents come to campus for the weekend to enjoy speakers, social activities, and the fall musical.

Halloween Dinner

Candlelight Mass

Holiday festivities include caroling, Candlelight Mass, and a formal Christmas Dinner.

Ring Week

Based on the theme chosen by the Senior Class, Ring Week activities include costumes, scavenger hunts, and entertainment. At the final dinner hosted by the seniors, senior ring sisters are revealed to juniors as they receive their school rings, and become "ring sisters" for life.

Spirit Day and Cake Auction

An all-school activity featuring a cake auction and sporting event between seniors (supported by sophomores) and juniors (cheered on by freshmen). Giant theme cakes baked by the seniors are auctioned off to raise funds for the seniors' gift to School.

Junior-Senior Prom

A spring formal hosted by the Junior Class for seniors and juniors lights up the month of May.

Father-Daughter Weekend

A spring weekend that gives students and their dads the chance to enjoy a variety of activities, sports, and a special performance by the dads after the spring musical.
