Food Bank

Join us in our November Food Drive

Our November community service project benefiting the Food Bank for Monterey County is ongoing through November 16. We are collecting nonperishable food items for those in need over the holidays: canned meats, soups, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, rice, cereal, grains, dried beans, and powdered milk. There are several barrels on campus for donations. Read more

´╗┐Read to Me Project a success

Thank you for making our October service project a great success! We collected hundreds of books for several grade levels. In addition to collecting books, Grade 2 students each selected a book that they donated and read it to PreK students. Students in grade 7 worked to gift wrap several books that were donated, too. See photos from the project.

What to wear for the Christmas Concert

The theme for this year's Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 14, is Christmas Memories. All students should come in appropriate concert attire:

  • Girls: Appropriate party dress with dress shoes. Because students are moving on stage and seated playing instruments, dresses should be modest in length—no formals, strapless, or spaghetti straps. Shoes should be flats or heels that are no more than 2 inches in height.
  • Boys: White or solid-colored dress shirt, tie or bow tie, slacks, and dress shoes. Jackets are optional.

If you'd like to order a recording of the concert—or the PreK and Kindergarten Christmas plays—download the following forms:

Thanks for your help with the Open House!

We offer sincere thanks to all of our Catalina families. We had a great turnout for our Open House on Friday, November 10, and many of the people in attendance were here because of you. Your referrals and help in getting the word out are much appreciated. Please mark your calendars for our next Open House on Monday, January 15.

Fifth-graders keeping busy

The Grade 5 class has had an exciting few weeks! A couple of highlights: They got letters from new pen pals in England and made s'mores using solar ovens in science class.

Santa Catalina Fund
October 2-November 10

The Santa Catalina Fund was a huge success! Thank you to all parents who participated. Your early donations have already started working for our students and faculty.

In Lower School, Grade 3 was the first to reach 100 percent parent participation and receives one week of free dress. Kindergarten was the second class and receives three days of free dress. The third class to reach 100 percent parent participation was Grade 2 and they receive one day.

For the first time, we had a separate incentive for the middle school. The first grade in Middle School to reach 100% parent participation would be awarded with a pizza party. Grade 6 was the first class to do so! Great job everyone!

In the Upper School, the classes were challenged to reach 100% participation as well. The freshmen parents had the highest participation with 79%. Great work!

Total parent participation for all school came in at 82%.

Below are the final participation standings:

Thank you again to all parents who contributed to the Santa Catalina Fund this year. Every gift makes a difference and we are grateful for your support. Thank you also to the Santa Catalina Fund volunteer committee who worked so hard to ensure that this year was a success.

Remember, all pledges can be paid in installments throughout the school year until June 30, 2018.
