Facebook is making changes. Don't miss our posts!

Facebook recently announced that it is changing its news feed to feature more posts from friends and family and fewer posts from pages like ours. To make sure you don't miss a beat, please opt to see us first in your news feed. On the Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School page click the "Following" button and select "See First" under "In Your News Feed." (Please see the screenshot at left.)

Our Facebook page is an important way for us to share all the wonderful moments that happen at school every day. Thanks for following!

ERB Testing set for February 19-23

ERB Testing for students in grades 2 through 8 takes place February 19–23 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. daily. Please make sure your children arrive at school by 7:55 a.m. each day and that they are well-rested and have eaten breakfast.

We ask that you not make any appointments during the scheduled testing periods. Students who arrive after testing begins are not be admitted to class because classes cannot be interrupted. There are no make-up tests.

During this week, we modify the students' homework load. Home practice remains important for students to retain content, especially since Winter Break follows ERB week. To allow students to practice important concepts but still remain fresh for the ERB, the students' normal homework load is cut in half. In addition, there are no tests or quizzes during ERB week.

17 students selected for Middle School Honor Choir
Santa Catalina had 24 students audition for this year's Central Coast Section Middle School Honor Choir. In the end, six students from grade 5, five from grade 7, and six from grade 8 were selected. The concert takes place at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, January 27, at Cabrillo College in Aptos. Learn more.

Upper School girls offer Valentine's Day babysitting
Upper School students offer you a worry-free date night … and a fun night of pizza and entertainment for your kiddos! To raise money for prom, they are offering to watch your kids from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, in Upper School Classrooms 1 and 2. (Adults are also be present.) Cost is $25 for your first child, $15 for each additional sibling.

Please RSVP your children's names and ages by February 9. Thank you!

Help spread the word about Benefit Celebration

The Benefit Celebration is on Saturday, March 10, at 5:30 p.m. Invitations will be mailed soon, but in the meantime, check out our Facebook Benefit Celebration Event Page. Please share the event to help spread the word using the hashtag #catalinabenefitgoesgreen2018.

Carmel softball opens registration

Carmel Community Girls Softball has opened registration for the 2018 softball season! Visit www.carmelsoftball.org to register.

Divisions for girls 6-14 are determined by the player's age on Jan. 1:

Pre-Rookie: ages 6-8
Rookie: ages 9-10
Minor: ages 11-12
Major: ages 13-14

Free recital hosted by Youth Music Monterey

Santa Catalina families are invited to a free violin recital featuring Eldar Hudiyev and James Neiman at All Saints Episcopal Church in Carmel on Saturday, February 10. This is a benefit concert for Youth Music Monterey. The recital begins at 7:00 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Learn more.
