Who We Are
Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School is an independent Catholic school in Monterey for boys and girls in PreKindergarten to Grade 8.
Through neuron-firing academics, off-campus explorations, and endless opportunities to create, move, lead, and serve, we guide each child along their path of self-discovery.
Our Mission
Santa Catalina exists to develop in each student a striving for excellence, a maturing awareness of moral and spiritual values, a sense of responsible purpose, and a determination to serve the world with courage, grace, and compassion.

Our Program
PreKindergarten
Our well-regarded PreK program lays a strong foundation for students’ academic and personal growth. With a student-teacher ratio of 7:1 and specialized instruction in reading, writing, and math, our littlest Cougars experience the perfect balance of guidance and free exploration.
Lower School
Kindergarten–Grade 5
Lower School students cement their love of learning through programs that tap into their full potential. Students start to learn Spanish, dig deeper into technology, enjoy their first overnight field trip, and so much more.
Middle School
Grades 6–8
Middle School is major. These years are about growing as teammates, leaders, and people of compassion. Our rigorous academics teach students to ask the tough questions, setting them up for success in high school and beyond.
When our students leave here, we know that they have become who they were meant to be.Christy Pollacci, Head of Lower and Middle School
