Mrs. Burke returned to Catalina in 2011 as an engaged alumna, having served in many volunteer positions since her graduation from both the Lower and Middle and Upper Schools, where she was both a day and boarding student. Before returning to Catalina to work in alumnae relations and development, Mrs. Burke spent 25 years working in the art world. Following graduate school in Italy, she worked for her university restoring a frescoed room from Pompeii. She also worked for Christie’s Old Master Painting Department in New York City and the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. She has a long history of advocating for children with disabilities, especially intellectual disabilities, so that they are fully included and appropriately supported in their local communities and neighborhood schools. Currently, as vice president and founding member of the Christ Child Society of Monterey Bay, her volunteer work is dedicated to helping infants and young children in need through service programs. Her sons are graduates of the Lower and Middle School.
