Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School eighth-graders played a big role in the first Mass of the school year, held outside in the E.L. Wiegand amphitheatre on September 17.
The week before, the students participated in a special retreat where they planned the prayers and readings for Mass and practiced the skit that supported the theme of finding the goodness in others.
The retreat also had a team-building component, where the students came up with silly walks—first on their own, and then together—and cheered on classmates during a rock-paper-scissors contest.
Mass provided the first major opportunity for the eighth-graders to practice their skills as Compass leaders—and they did a wonderful job.
