KSBW meteorologist talks weather with Grade 1

KSBW meteorologist Gina DeVecchio paid a visit to Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School to talk to Grade 1 about weather.

Gina taught the students about cloud types, weather and storm systems, and what she does for her job, including the types of instruments she uses to make forecasts. Each student came prepared with three questions, written in their science notebooks, for a Q&A session at the end. Questions covered topics such as tornados, why clouds are puffy, and Gina’s favorite type of weather.

The students have been learning about air and weather in their FOSS science unit. Different students are assigned to provide daily weather reports, and as a class they are collecting data on conditions and temperature.

Maybe there’s a future meteorologist in the mix!
