Students headed off campus for a day of class bonding and service for Santa Catalina’s Middle School Activity Day.
Sixth graders began the morning with team-building challenges, then headed to Marina State Beach to pick up trash.
Seventh graders spent the morning volunteering at the Food Bank for Monterey County, where they filled 1,125 bags of plums. In the afternoon they watched a documentary about modern food production and discussed topics of food costs and meal planning.
Eighth graders traveled to Los Altos and spent the day at Hidden Villa, enjoying many interesting activities. A highlight was interacting with Hidden Villa's farm animals—cows, sheep, baby goats, and piglets. Students also enjoyed team-building games and challenges during the day.
It was a rewarding day for our Middle School students off campus, out of the classroom, building friendships and learning more about themselves and our community.
