Mr. Ostos brings Venezuela to the Spanish classroom

Carlos Ostos, the husband of Head of School Dr. Barbara Ostos, spoke to a Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School seventh-grade Spanish class about growing up in Venezuela.

Mr. Ostos taught students about many facets of his home country: its geography, weather, animals, traditions, foods, music, vacation spots, and notable figures. He said he had visited the Amazon rainforest as a child and it was “like going back in time.” Students asked what he liked about living there as well as practical questions about the currency and when people eat their meals.

Afterwards, Mr. Ostos asked the students to share something they want to do when they visit Venezuela. The most popular answer was to pet a capybara.
