Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School fourth-graders took a virtual field trip to the Santa Lucia Preserve.
Educators from the Santa Lucia Conservancy, including Julie Brandlin Sigourney '72, talked to students about the Native Americans who used to live in the area. They took students on a walking tour of the preserve to examine native plants and show how the Native Americans used these plants to weave baskets and stun fish for capture.
Students normally take this field trip in person. Even though that wasn't possible this year, we are thankful they still got to experience the preserve!
