Middle School students headed out into the world for their Activity Day on September 13.
Grade 6 students participated in a plastic-themed beach cleanup. Their activities incorporated math, science, and English both at the beach and in the classroom.
In Grade 7, students learned all about the complex issue of hunger. They watched the documentary A Place at the Table, which broadened their understanding of how even working families can struggle to pay for nutritious, dependable food. Then they paired off and went to the grocery store, where they had to shop within a certain budget for a fictional family. They also went to the local food bank to pack meals.
Grade 8 students went the farthest, traveling up to Mount Hermon in Santa Cruz County, where they navigated an adventure course in the redwood canopy and learned about courage and teamwork.
