At the beginning of the year, English teacher Chris Avedissian had eighth-graders write their own version of an old poem called "In School-days," asking them to capture their feelings and memories of Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School.
To mark the last day of class, Avedissian selected lines, couplets, and stanzas from all of their poems and arranged them together as a new one. "I was impressed and moved with how they captured our school and conveyed their thoughts," he said.
Students evoked the sights, sounds, and feel of campus, and their own experience. Read the poem here.
