Evening & Weekend Activity
Catalina’s location on the Monterey Peninsula gives Summer at Santa Catalina campers access to a wonderful array of activities during the day, in the evening, and on the weekends.
Evening activities are most weekdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. They are a camper extravaganza and a wonderful way for our camp community to blend and join together. Think about it: a bonfire at Carmel Beach, relay races, arts and crafts, a spa night, and an 80s dance party. Activities for all age groups encourage girls to play together, broaden their definition of sisterhood, and build camp spirit. Events for specific age groups strengthen interpersonal peer bonds and build group character.
On Saturdays and Sundays, camp is still buzzing along with girl energy and wonder as we head out on a variety of adventures. All campers are invited to participate in the Saturday outings to places such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Raging Waters, the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, and the Great America Theme Park in Santa Clara. On Sunday afternoons, we quiet down and it is a resident-only reset for the week ahead. Counselors lead small outings to nearby parks and beaches such as the Pacific Grove tide pools, the white sands of Carmel Beach, or majestic Point Lobos. We also attend Mass in which all are welcome and encouraged to sing, pray, meditate or just be quite and thoughtful. Mass is camper-led and brings together girls of all religious denominations for an inspiring, collaborative hour.
