Music

For the musically inclined, there are plenty of ways to shine at Catalina. With many of our students participating in Chamber Choir, Chamber Ensemble, and in individual music instruction, musicians and singers represent a dedicated and talented group at the school. Students who participate in the music program enjoy performing in a number of concerts, recitals, competitions, and community performances throughout the year.

Award-Winning Choir

The Chamber Choir always makes a statement at San Francisco's annual Music in the Parks competition. They have won Best High School Women's Choir every year since 2008. They have also won Best Overall High School Choir seven times, beating men’s choirs, mixed-gender choirs, even imposing 80-piece choirs.

The choir’s repertoire includes world music; spirituals; Gregorian chants; Romantic, classical, and contemporary music; and jazz.

For larger showcases in winter and at the end of the year—as well as two musicals—musicians and singers perform in the 500-seat Performing Arts Center.
