Catalina dancers, singers, and actors captivate audiences in the 500-seat Performing Arts Center, staging two musicals and one dramatic play each year. Students build confidence as they transform observation, sensitivity, and imagination into believable stage characters. Off-stage, students operate the state-of-the-art sound system, computerized lighting, and full-fly scenery equipment in all three full-scale productions.

Theatre classes offer the extensive study of theatre and its literature including acting, observation, and presentation. Our curriculum consists of monologues, scene work, and the design and direction of sound, sets, and lighting.

Certificate Program

Our certificate program in the performing arts guides students through a comprehensive, four-year course of study that expands as well as refines each student’s artistic repertoire. Feeding students' passions and setting them up for further study in college, the program culminates with seniors planning and staging a complete theatrical performance with fellow class members.

With each show that I participated in, I could feel a change in myself. Not only did my on-stage performance skills improve with each show, but my off-stage character developed as well. I could feel myself being more confident in the classroom and in my personal life.
