Physical Education

The Physical Education and Athletics Department reflects the school’s spirit of academic challenge and is an integral part of our mission. Students participate regularly in athletics and value physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. The program provides a setting in which students can develop themselves
both as team players and as individuals. In our view, a complete educational experience includes the pursuit of excellence both on the playing field and in the classroom. We work to maximize opportunities for participation and aspire to maintain high levels of athleticism within a moral and ethical framework. Most importantly, we strive to make each student’s athletic experience a positive, healthy, and enjoyable part of her school years.

Instruction in physical education takes place in the Bedford Family Gymnasium, in the pool, on the tennis courts, on the athletic field, and in a state-of-the-art fitness room. Classes are held four days a week for an hour a day, right after school.

  • Lifeguard Training (students receive Red Cross certification)

Interscholastic Athletics

Interscholastic sports are the centerpiece of the athletic program. Here, our students learn the values and principles of goal setting, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Practices take place every weekday for about two hours. Days of competition might require additional travel time and might include weekends. For specific team schedules, please click here.
