The Monterey Bay, just down the road from our campus, extends our science lessons into the real world, where students can observe firsthand the principles they study in class.
MONTEREY BAY NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY
Our location just two miles from the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary gives our students opportunities for hands-on scientific inquiry. Monterey Bay becomes a laboratory that allows students to observe the interactions among physical, chemical, and biological factors and encourages them to explore the complexities of real-world problems and solutions. All students conduct this hands-on research alongside their classroom studies of physics, biology, and chemistry.
Sophomores who are looking for deeper study of marine science can apply for the Marine Ecology Research Program, a three-year intensive science curriculum that allows students to pursue their research interests in partnership with local marine agencies and gain valuable experience and skills for college and future research careers.
