Santa Catalina offers leadership opportunities that prepare students to be successful at school and beyond. The Student-Faculty Senate provides the opportunity to develop greater self-awareness and to learn the arts of public speaking, communication, negotiation, and leadership.
I'd always been involved in student government, but I never ran for president before I came here. So when I got elected,
I realized, 'Wow, this school has made me different.' It feels cool to be able
to lead the class.
~Katherine, Boarding Student from
San Francisco, California
The purpose of the Student-Faculty Senate is to promote unity in our school community by leading with excellence, responsibility, integrity, and compassion. Senate officers are elected by members of the student body. The four class deans serve as the faculty officers and student leadership mentors. As a whole, the group initiates programs, helps organize student life on campus, and responds to campus and community needs while giving students an opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills.
