Study Hall Stories: Pilar '27

Study Hall Stories: Pilar '27
By Sofia '25

Study Hall is the central gathering place for students at Santa Catalina School, where we gather for morning assemblies, relax or study between classes, and hang out with friends. In Study Hall Stories, we choose a random desk and interview that student on their favorite things about Catalina.

Pilar '27 is a freshman boarding student from Texas, and her favorite thing to do in her free time is read.

Q: What's your favorite thing about being a freshman at Catalina?
A: My favorite thing about being a freshman is getting to have Dr. Hunt and Mrs. Mulgrew this year. English is really fun because sometimes we drink tea in class while we read. And although I'm not the best at programming, Mrs. Mulgrew is super nice and she's a great dorm parent!

Q: What's your favorite place on campus and why?
A: I really like the library because it's super quiet and the spaces are comfy. I like the booths especially—they're the best. It also has a wide selection of books. I borrowed The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes from there, and it was really good.

Q: Would you rather be a celebrity chef or a superhero?
A: I couldn't be a celebrity chef because I'm bad at cooking, and I'd want to be a superhero to have a super power. I would want to be able to control shadows like the Shadow Man and make them talk and do things for me.
