Degrees: B.A., Yale University

I feel very privileged in my work here to give to our students what Santa Catalina offered me—the understanding that we are here to serve God by serving others. I also feel so blessed to work with others in such a collaborative and joyful way. Santa Catalina really is a community of love.

Mrs. Murphy began teaching at Santa Catalina in 2007, but her relationship with the school goes all the way back to when she was a first-grader! After receiving her B.A. from Yale, she worked as an Equity actress in New York. In between acting jobs, she found that her most important work was social work—something she can trace back to the seeds of service planted at Catalina. Now back at her alma mater, she hopes to plant those same seeds. She lives on campus with her family: husband Dr. John Murphy, the Assistant Head of School for Mission and Identity, and son George, a student in the Lower and Middle School. Together, they enjoy biking, traveling, theater, movies, music, and soccer. Mrs. Murphy teaches religion in grades K-4 and a Compass leadership class with Christy Pollacci, Head of Lower and Middle School.
