Catalina brings popular college admissions event to Monterey

Santa Catalina School hosted the first Monterey edition of the college admissions event Bay Area Case Studies on April 23.

Organized in partnership with York School and Stevenson School, the event drew juniors and their families who wanted to learn about the application process from the college admission officer’s perspective.

Attendees were placed into small groups meant to simulate an admissions committee, working with current admission professionals to review mock applications and learning what factors truly matter to colleges as they review candidates.

After that informative exercise, juniors visited a college fair that drew representatives from nearly 40 colleges and universities across the U.S.—including a number of very selective colleges that do not typically visit Monterey.

The event was an exciting addition to Catalina’s College Counseling program, which works hard to demystify the application process for students and parents.
