Fall athletes win league awards

Santa Catalina School’s fall athletes made their mark on the field, on the court, and in the pool. Three teams made it to the Central Coast Section championships, two athletes won league titles, and 10 Cougars secured all-league honors.

Cross Country
Heidi Green ’25 won the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division Title and placed 13th overall at the CCS Division V championships. She was named First Team All-League.

Field Hockey
The team finished in fifth place with a 3-3-2 league record, 5-3-2 overall. Selma Ruiz ’23 made the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.

Golf
The Cougars bookended their season with wins, finishing 2-9. Reena Dail ’23 placed seventh in the PCAL tournament and received the Elgie Bellizio Award for sportsmanship.

Tennis
The team claimed a share of the PCAL Gabilan Division title with a 9-1 record. They advanced to the CCS championships but were knocked out in the first round. Lara Yuan ’23 went undefeated in the regular season and made it to the CCS quarterfinals.

Volleyball
The Cougars’ 12-10 overall record was enough to secure them a spot in the CCS championships, where they lost in the semifinals. Anna Yeh ’23 was named Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-League. Sofia Luna ’24 was named Second Team All-League, and Ellesia Corona ’24 made the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.

Water Polo
The Cougars went 6-1 in league and 12-2 overall, and suffered a tight overtime loss in the first round of the PCAL tournament. Riley Barringer ’23 was named First Team All-League; Quinn Connolly ’26 and Sophie Fieber ’24 were Second Team All-League; and Kate Romans ’23 made the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.
