MERP students study coral reefs on Hawaii research trip

Seven students in Santa Catalina School’s Marine Ecology Research Program enjoyed a research trip to Hawaii at the start of summer break.

The purpose of the trip was to monitor the health of coral reefs as part of an ongoing research project in which each year's students build on the observations of the last.

They explored intertidal zones, turtle habitat, cave systems, and rainforest ecosystems, and of course took in amazing views and clear night skies.
