Seven students earn Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Seven Santa Catalina School students received recognition in the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional competition.

Margaret Jiang ’25 earned a Gold Key in digital art, along with an honorable mention. Gold Key works automatically go on to national judging. Sophie Knipp ’25 earned a Silver Key in mixed media. Honorable mentions went to Selin Sakiz ’25 (photography), Emma Kim ’24 (photography), and Eleanor Song ’24 (painting).

For writing, Anastasia Choi ’27 received a Silver Key in novel writing and an honorable mention in science fiction and fantasy.

Angelina Tseng ’25 received a total of 33 awards for both art and writing, including seven Gold Keys for photography and four for poetry. Additionally, Angelina received four Silver Keys and an honorable mention for photography; seven Silver Keys in poetry and four in personal essay and memoir; and 10 honorable mentions for writing.

The California Central Coast Art Region is the largest and most competitive in the country, with 25 counties stretching from Monterey County in the south to Napa in the north and across the width of the state.
