Sophomore swimmer sets school record in 100 backstroke

Santa Catalina School sophomore swimmer Eleanor Song has set a new school record in the 100 backstroke.

In a meet against Hollister on April 22, her winning time of 1:03.90 broke the previous Catalina record (1:04.40) set by Kate Bryan Sedano ’02 in 2001.

“I am grateful for everyone on the Santa Catalina swim team for being so supportive and motivating,” Eleanor said. “I want to thank them and Mr. Whitchurch for helping me accomplish this!”

Eleanor is also closing in on the school record for the 100 fly. She came up less than a second short during a meet against Carmel on April 6.
