Two Heads go head to head in swimming contest

Two Heads of Santa Catalina School went head to head in the pool for a friendly relay competition to kick off swim season.
Head of School Dr. Barbara Ostos and Head of Upper School Julie Lenherr Edson ’88 led teams of students in an event that came to be known as Aquawars. Two senior swimmers helped to organize the contest, which saw two teams of nine race across the width of the Catalina pool in a freestyle relay. Dr. Ostos and Mrs. Edson took the first and last legs.
With students cheering on from the pool deck, Team Edson claimed victory by less than a second with a time of 2:40.10. Mrs. Edson may have had an advantage, though: she was a varsity swimmer as a student at Santa Catalina.
