10 students win regional Scholastic Art Awards

Ten Santa Catalina School students claimed 25 awards in the regional 2019 Scholastic Art Awards competition. Their submitted works included painting, photography, film, design, and mixed media.

The California Central Coast Art Region is the largest and most competitive in the country, with 25 counties stretching from Monterey County in the south to Napa in the north and across the width of the state. Out of more than 4,600 submissions, only about a third earned awards.

Santa Catalina students won in three categories: Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. Gold Key works automatically go on to national judging.

In addition, Silver and Gold Key winners will have their work on display at the Pacific Grove Art Center, which coordinates the regional awards, from March 1–30. A closing reception and ceremony will be held Saturday, March 30, from 1:00–4:00 p.m.

You can view our students' work on SmugMug.
