Santa Catalina's choir earned first place with a superior rating in the High School Women's Choir Division at the Festivals of Music/Music in the Parks competition in Santa Clara on May 18.

Lavender Zhou '20 was named Best Instrumentalist in the Choral Division for her flute performance in Reginal Wright's "Where'er You Go." The choir also sang "Harriet Tubman" by Walter Robinson.

Judges praised the choir in recorded comments, with one saying they were the best women's choir he had heard in a long time.

Catalina has won best women's choir in this event every year since 2008.
