Santa Catalina's cross country team won the Santa Lucia Division of the Pacific Coast Athletic League (PCAL). The Cougars went undefeated in the division and swept the championships on November 2. The team barely missed qualifying for the CCS championships, but Ana Leissner '21 qualified as an individual and will represent Santa Catalina on November 16.
Tennis qualifies for CCS
Tennis took second place in the difficult Gabilan Division of the PCAL. All six players competing in the PCAL individual championships advanced to the finals on November 5.
Cecilia Alcaraz '22 and Lara Yuan '23 advanced to the finals as the top two singles seeds after claiming straight-set victories in the first round November 4. Gaby Nagy '20–Channing-Jaye Scott '21 won two doubles matches. After going 1-1, Hannah Levi '21–Sofia Marquez '20 are playing for third place.
The Catalina tennis team is ranked second in Monterey County. The Cougars qualified for CCS in the team division after beating Notre Dame-Salinas 7-0 on October 30 in a play-in match. The team championships begin November 11.
