Pi Day festivities raise more than $850 for children's charities

Santa Catalina School marked Pi Day on March 14 with a fun pun contest and a fundraiser for children in need.

Members of the school community baked special pies for the occasion with pi-shaped holes in the top crust. The pies were sold at lunch for $4 apiece, with proceeds going toward student clubs that raise money for children. More than $850 was raised for Smile Fund, which supports an organization that performs cleft palate surgeries, and Children's Fund, which sponsors a handful of children in financial need around the world.

In addition, Catalina held a contest for the best pi puns. Here are the winners:
