The Smile Fund, the student club that raises money for cleft palate treatments for kids in Colombia, raised enough money to fund three surgeries during their first fundraising drive on September 22.
The club raised more than $800 from Santa Catalina students and the school community. The money benefits Alegria, a nonprofit founded by a Lower School dad that provides surgeries for cleft lips and palates as well as other long-term treatments.
Club heads Jessica '18 and Bella '18 traveled to Colombia over the summer to see firsthand how Smile Fund can change lives. "The experience of this mission trip was very mind-blowing," Jessica says.
