As it is still early in the season, the Catalina soccer team is building up their stamina, technique, competitiveness, and teamwork skills. On January 8, captain Emma Bucholtz '19 led the varsity team to an 8-1 victory against Anzar High School, with Niamh Burke '21 scoring six of those goals, and with strong defense from Leona Lind '21 and goalie Emily Radner '19. The Cougars followed that up with an 11-0 win over Oakwood on January 10.

Emma is thrilled to be captain this season and is optimistic about the team, stating: "The soccer team is off to a good start. This year we have enough players for both a JV and a varsity, which has not happened since I was a freshman. The players are hardworking and determined to improve, and in fact, I have already seen improvement in our newest players in the few weeks of preseason and the start of the season. I am grateful to be soccer captain this year and excited to see where this season takes us."
