Santa Catalina School held its Report Card Assembly on January 10, recognizing students for both their academic achievements and their outstanding courtesy toward others.
The first students to be recognized were recipients of the Courtesy Award, given to one day student and one boarding student from each class based on nominations from faculty and their peers. The award honors those who exemplify courtesy in the broadest sense—thoughtful and kind, generous with their time, and caring toward the feelings and welfare of others.
- Freshmen: Charlotte Juge (Boarder) and Tarn Reilly (Day)
- Sophomores: Caroline Maguire (Boarder) and Cailin Templeman (Day)
- Juniors: Ayo Adeyemi and Jane Hoffman (Boarder), and Spencer Leatherberry (Day)
- Seniors: Julia Bledsoe (Boarder) and Allison Lorentz (Day)
Next, students who represent the tops of their class for the fall 2019 semester were called up to receive Gold Cords. The cords were presented to students with a single semester GPA in the top 15% of their classes. Eight freshmen, eight sophomores, nine juniors, and seven seniors received Gold Cords. Student Body President India Gonzales and Senior Class President Gaby Nagy assisted Head of Upper School Julie Edson in the conferring of the Gold Cords.
At the end of the assembly, students and faculty joined together to sing the "Alma Mater."
Correction: An earlier version of this story included the incorrect qualifications for a Gold Cord.
