Volleyball closes out another remarkable season

Santa Catalina volleyball made it to the state semifinals for the third year in a row, falling in four sets to No. 4 Lincoln of San Francisco to bring another stellar season to a close.

Catalina, which claimed the top seed in Division III for the California Interscholastic Federation NorCal Regional playoffs, won the first set 25-16, then lost the next three by slim margins, 20-25, 22-25, 22-25. "The level of play in our gym last night was incredible, and Lincoln just made a few more plays than we did," Coach Elliott said.

It capped the second year in a row that the Cougars went undefeated in the regular season. They've gone 54-2, with two Mission Trail Athletic League titles and two Central Coast Section championships, in the last two years.
