Volleyball headed to State; all matches to be played at home

Catalina volleyball won its second straight Central Coast Section title with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of Mt. Madonna on Friday night in Watsonville.

The Cougars have gone 25-0 through the CCS championships for the second year in a row. Catalina is the only school in Monterey County that has ever gone undefeated in volleyball through the section championships. The team lost only two sets this season, going 71-2 in all sets played.

Now, Catalina is the No. 1 seed in Division III for the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California playoffs. (The seeding committee moved Catalina up from Division V for the State championships.)

The Cougars will play every match at home for the single-elimination tournament. The first round is against No. 16 Woodland at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at Bedford Gymnasium.

Come out and support the team in their run for a State title!
