Position Summary
Santa Catalina School, a nationally recognized PreK-12 independent, Catholic school in Monterey, California, seeks seasonal summer camp counselors for Summer at Santa Catalina. Summer at Santa Catalina serves 300-plus girls through day and resident summer camp programming from June to August. This position requires a positive role model who can build relationships with campers and their families, lead various games, and oversee free play and activities. Camp counselors report to the Director of Summer at Santa Catalina, caring for and supervising girls in grades 2-10, and live in dormitory housing on campus providing resident supervision for campers.

Description
Counselors work on a team to care for and supervise campers throughout the camp day and in the dorms. Counselors lead various activities including teaching and assisting camp classes, facilitating community activities for camper groups, facilitating and assisting camp programs, supervising camp field trips, and other duties as needed that support the positive and inclusive girl community. This position has resident duties, including supervising and caring for camper needs in the dorms. Counselors guide campers through homesickness, friendship conflicts, and community building, helping girls grow their emotional intelligence skills, leadership and communication skills, and more. All members of the counselor team are expected to be positive role models for campers and be active, contributing members of the overall camp counselor team. This position lives in dormitory housing on campus and is provided meals during camp operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for campers during the camp day and in the dorms, including residential duties
- Lead camper groups through all parts of the camp day
- Lead dorm meetings
- Teach and assist in camp classes as assigned
- Accompany and supervise campers during field trips
- Facilitate camp programs for large and small groups
- Facilitate and participate in community building activities, theme days, camp songs, games, and more
- Support meal times with camper supervision as needed
- Provide social-emotional learning support to campers, such as conflict resolution, homesickness support, and more
- Manage camper behavior individually and in groups positively and consistently
- Facilitate relationship-building between campers and groups
- Manage risk throughout camp activities on and off campus
- Assist in administrative needs to support program activities, such as maintaining daily attendance and accountability records
- Learn, follow, and explain camp rules, regulations, policies, and daily practices regarding the Summer at Santa Catalina program operation
- Help maintain and organize program supplies and spaces

- Must be available for the entirety of staff training (June 8-14), and a minimum of 2 weeks June 16–July 27
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of youth experience and leading experiential activities preferred

- A commitment to the mission and identity of Santa Catalina School
- A desire to participate fully in the Summer at Santa Catalina community
- Successful completion of a LiveScan criminal background check as required by law
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus

The Activities Coordinator is part of the summer administrative team and is directly in charge of all camper activities and programs that occur outside of regular class times. This position designs and facilitates unique programming for our campers that supports a positive and inclusive girl community. This position begins in May/early June to finalize supply purchases and organization, assist with staff training, and complete general camp preparation. During camp, this position assists with general camp administrative needs including office duty, parent phone calls, daily camper sign in/sign out, meals, nightly duty, field trips, and other duties as needed. The Activities Coordinator works with summer staff in camp programming and in facilitating all evening activities. This position lives in dorm housing provided by the school.
Essential Responsibilities
