Faculty Openings
Santa Catalina School seeks an innovative, dedicated, and student-centered full-time Lower and Middle School Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
Our Lower and Middle School art program, located in a state-of-the-art studio space, provides all students multiple opportunities to enjoy learning to create art, to appreciate various forms of artistic expression, and to demonstrate their creativity in a variety of settings with confidence. The art teacher is deft at establishing positive relationships with students, their families, and colleagues; accomplishes grade-appropriate curriculum planning and instruction; and is a role model for innovation, creativity, and integration between disciplines. Reporting to the Head of Lower and Middle School, the art teacher will join with colleagues who work closely together and value collegiality.
Santa Catalina School is currently seeking a Middle School Mathematics Teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
This role is responsible for teaching mathematics to fifth through eighth grade students; establishing positive relationships with students, their families, and colleagues; grade-appropriate curriculum planning and instruction; and for innovation, creativity, integration between disciplines, and integration of technology use throughout the program. This role also will serve as a middle school advisor. Reporting to the Head of Lower and Middle School, the Mathematics Teacher will join a department that works closely together and values collegiality.
Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
- Follow procedures and achieve lesson goals.
- Assign and explain homework.
- Oversee students outside of the classroom, including at recess and lunch.
- Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times.
- Take attendance and document daily notes.
- Compile a report for the teacher for when he/she returns with updates on students.
Substitute Teacher Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in teaching is preferred.
- We prefer candidates with 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Must be detail oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Santa Catalina School seeks an innovative, dedicated, full-time Upper School Admission Data and Office Coordinator. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for a professional to join a team that welcomes and supports the enrollment of new students and families to the school.
The Upper School Admission Data and Office Coordinator plays an essential role as a member of the Upper School admission team. This position is a combination of data management and office support, requiring a high level of collaboration with other offices on campus. The Coordinator is often the first point of contact for prospective parents, students, and the community at large, demanding a high level of integrity and confidentiality, as well as grace and excellent communication skills. Strength and fluency with database management and standard office software are essential. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, energetic, personable, and collegial.
Santa Catalina School seeks an experienced and thoughtful professional to serve as Upper School Assistant Director of Admission. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to partner with the admission professionals on campus to provide consistent excellence as it relates to recruiting and admission of students into the Upper School. This role will join an experienced team of professionals to support the school’s needs as they relate to Upper School enrollment.
The full-time Assistant Director of Admission is responsible for executing the strategic student recruitment plan, developed by the admissions team, for the all-girls boarding and day Upper School. Reporting to the Upper School Director of Admission, the Assistant Director of Admission will be an enthusiastic, experienced team player who is passionate about education, especially an all-girls experience. This role partners closely with the admissions team and other Upper School colleagues to understand the current student experience with the goal of sharing their stories throughout the admission process. This position has an active presence on campus and may be a member of the Upper School resident faculty, depending on various factors. Ideal candidates will demonstrate past results in admissions work through initiative and creativity.
Santa Catalina School is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to be a part of the facilities team. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the day-to-day work related to the mechanical systems and structural elements of the classroom, residence, and community buildings on campus.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all buildings and systems on campus as part of the facilities team. The tech performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, plumbing maintenance, HVAC repairs, painting, carpentry, and general repairs and maintenance. Although the tech is not expected to be an expert in all areas, general knowledge of as many trades as possible is valuable. Duties also include routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and addressing immediate repair and event set-up needs. The day-to-day of this position is varied and physically demanding at times. Much of the work required for this position is performed outside in varying weather conditions. The tech is required to be on-call after hours on a rotational basis with other members of the facilities team.
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, Santa Catalina School seeks a Head Swimming Coach to lead the swimming program and team. The coach assists with game management, supervision, and organization for their team and all players, abiding by school, league, and CIF rules and regulations. This position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. The ideal candidate will motivate student-athletes to develop an appreciation for competition and their sport.
Santa Catalina School seeks a full-time Co-Director of Facilities, reporting directly to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer (CFOO). The Co-Director will have a unique opportunity to overlap with the school’s longtime and experienced Director of Facilities before his retirement in 2025, at which point the Co-Director will transition to become the full-time, sole Director of Facilities. This role is responsible for the oversight of the physical plant, building maintenance, campus grounds, energy management, and campus security. The Co-Director will help oversee prioritization, assignment, and execution of work to create a safe and efficient work environment that improves student learning, teaching effectiveness, and business performance, and optimizes staff productivity.
The award-winning, idyllic Santa Catalina School campus sits on a gorgeous sunbelt in central Monterey and spans 36 acres. The campus requires constant attention and care, with over 30 buildings, including classrooms, offices, kitchens, and housing for students and faculty; sports facilities, including a pool, gymnasium, tennis courts, and athletic fields; and extensive landscaping and grounds. With the current Director of Facilities, the Co-Director will be responsible for overseeing the work of the teams that comprise the facilities department—maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping—as well as performing hands-on daily maintenance work. Managing maintenance requests, large school projects, assigning work to team members, executing projects personally based on own expertise, and providing troubleshooting/oversight for all facilities work are main areas of work. In addition, scheduling of preventative maintenance and inspections to keep the physical plant and its components functioning and in compliance is required. Balancing daily work requests, event set-up requests, and long-term projects are all key components to success in the role and require a strong working relationship with school leadership. Evenings and weekends are often required to meet the needs of the school and community.
